From the Expert Series
Each year, CornerHouse trains thousands of professionals in our Forensic Interviewing Protocol, but we recognized an opportunity to share our expertise more broadly.
That's why we launched the "From the Expert" podcast series. Our faculty with specialized expertise in child maltreatment, trauma, and forensic interviewing discuss essential topics including best practices, trauma responses, secondary traumatic stress, and self-care.
Through these in-depth conversations, we extend our mission by making specialized knowledge accessible to a wider audience of child protection professionals and advocates, equipping them with the expertise needed to better serve children and families.

The Era of Digital Danger: How to Ask Children about Social Media Use in Online Exploitation Cases
Written by: Emma Schroer, CornerHouse Forensic Interviewer and Trainer
Youth are online and exposed to many things, both good and bad. As adults, we must have the tools to ask the right questions and understand their online world and relationships.
Key Insights from the Paper:
Most teenagers use at least one social media platform, with a third reporting virtually nonstop use
Predators exploit platforms like TikTok, Instagram, Snapchat, and even gaming chat features
Understanding platform-specific features (usernames vs. profile names, privacy settings) is crucial for effective interviews
Children remain the experts of their own digital experiences
