CornerHouse’s community mental health clinic is expanding its therapy offerings. We are currently enrolling children and families in support groups, and have opened up our waiting list for individual therapy to the community.

Family Support Group
When: Tuesdays at 4:30-6:00 PM | Starting March 1st, 2022

What is the CornerHouse Family Support Group?
The CornerHouse Family Support Group is a weekly meeting for children and their caregivers to receive support, education, and resources in order to help children heal from sexual abuse. It is also a place where children and their families can learn more about healthy boundaries, self-regulation, expression of feelings, safety-planning, and the healing process
Groups run for 10 consecutive weeks, following a curriculum for both caregivers and children. This group is a closed group – participants are encouraged to attend all sessions and must commit to a minimum of 8 sessions
Who can attend the Family Support Group?
Non-offending caregivers of children who have experienced or witnessed sexual abuse (does not have to have a child participating in the group to attend)
Children who have experienced or witnessed sexual abuse, who are between the ages of 5-12 years old
How much does the Children’s Support Group cost?
Support group is billed through the child’s medical insurance plan. If you have any questions or concerns about insurance or payment, please contact Mandee at 612-813-5945 or email mandee.maroon@childrensmn.org to discuss payment options we have available

Monthly Caregiver Support Group
When: Every 3rd Thursday | 6:00PM | Virtual Platform

What is the CornerHouse Monthly Caregiver Support Group?
The CornerHouse Monthly Caregiver Support Group is a drop-in, open support group for caregivers of children who have experienced or witnessed abuse.
Group meets every third Thursday of the month via SecureVideo.
Group meets from 6:00PM to 7:30PM to discuss a rotating schedule of topics; some group topics include guilt and shame, fear and anxiety, boundaries, and safety planning. Facilitators encourage group participants to suggest potential topics, as well.
A brief intake is required for all families who wish to participate in support group.
Who can attend the Monthly Caregiver Support Group?
Non-offending caregivers of children who have experienced or witnessed abuse.
This group is open to the community. Children do not have to be participating in CornerHouse services or have completed a forensic interview with CornerHouse for caregivers to attend.
How much does the Monthly Caregiver Support Group cost?
Monthly Caregiver Support Group is free of any out-of-pocket cost or co-pay.

Individual Therapy Services

What are CornerHouse Individual Therapy Services?
CornerHouse provides individual therapy to children ages 4-15 that is trauma-informed, client-centered, and culturally responsive, ensuring that the unique needs of the child and family are at the center of the services provided.
Therapy services are for any child or adolescent who has an experience of abuse or violence. Referrals may be made for a child following a Forensic Interview, and CornerHouse is now offering therapy services to the community for any child ages 4-15 who has an experience of abuse or violence.
Therapy services are provided in both English and Spanish.

All new therapy clients will complete a diagnostic assessment to determine the best fit for services at CornerHouse as well as provide additional recommendations and referrals as needed.
